Celebrating the Journey – Chapter 8

As Convertible Solutions concludes its 20th anniversary celebration, we close this journey with reflections from Pete Pierson, President of Operations, whose leadership and vision have helped shape the company’s evolution over nearly two decades. From a simple “what if” to innovative substrates used by printers around the world, Pete’s perspective captures the curiosity, creativity, and collaboration that define Convertible Solutions—honoring the past while looking ahead to the possibilities of what’s next.

As this calendar year comes to a close, and our 20 th Anniversary celebration wraps up, I wanted to share my thoughts on our company as many of our other colleagues have. Many of you have read the prior issues of this series and worked with our team so you know Convertible Solutions’ story; A simple idea crafted and honed into tangible, innovative substrates and solutions.

When I first joined the Convertible Solutions team at the end of 2006, I had no idea where this journey would take all of us. I only knew that the company had a couple substrate templates that were being used by our parent company and the idea of, “What if”.

What if we introduced these templates to other printers; what if we turned the common structure of printing into a pre-converted process rather than a tedious post press bindery structure? What if we pre-applied scores, perforations, and glues on substrates so that the printer could produce short run, low waste, variable data jobs and ship the same day without having to go through the bindery taking extra days? What if we developed a process to make super thick business cards, thick celebration announcements, and interactive marketing pieces on many cover stocks that could be optimized and printed on a standard digital press?

The answer to all of these questions is that this would create a family of customers and partners in over 40 countries across the world, each with their own unique ideas on how to turn a simple substrate into amazing print projects! Seeing these creative successes has been absolutely amazing for our entire team here in the USA and the also our European team.

I want to thank all of our customers, partners, and colleagues past and present in contributing to the formation, improvement, and continued growth over the first 20 years of Convertible Solutions and I cannot wait to see what the next decade brings us in the form of new products, new customers, and new partnerships. We truly appreciate and do not take for granted all of the embraced enthusiasm for our products that all of you have!
